The circuit

Where four countries meet

  1. One

    Namibia, the Caprivi

The Caprivi is a long, narrow strip of riverine swampland bordered by Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Angola, dominated by the mighty Zambezi and the smaller Chobe. Its far eastern tip, where the two rivers meet, is regarded as the best spot to try your hand at tiger fishing. Take a boat cruise for the sunsets, walk with a guide to find the bird you can hear but cannot see, or simply sit by the pool with a long, cool drink.

  2. Two

    Botswana, Chobe

Chobe National Park, on the banks of the Chobe River, is known for an outstanding abundance of wildlife. From the comfort of your lodge you head out by boat or by vehicle: sunsets over the river, elephant silhouettes, long drinks on the deck, excellent food, and the sound of hyena and elephant at night.

  3. Three

    Zambia, Livingstone

On the banks of the Zambezi, with the cry of the fish eagle and the mist of Victoria Falls (the smoke that thunders). Take a game drive to find rhino, get thoroughly wet photographing the falls, visit the town museum for the David Livingstone story, or browse the market for something to take home.

  4. Four

    Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls

On the opposite bank lies the town of Victoria Falls, where you see the falls from a different angle and can greet the Livingstone statue inside the park. Try your luck at the casino, or, for the genuinely adventurous, go white-water rafting.

  • Tell us which of the four countries matter most to you. Dropping one and adding nights to another usually makes a better trip than trying to see everything.
  • Several activities here are optional extras booked locally. We will tell you which are worth the money and which are not.
  • Visas for Zimbabwe are obtainable in foreign currency at the border entry points, and a departure tax applies when flying out of Victoria Falls airport.
